This year alone, conservatives have attacked brands like Kellogg’s, Hershey’s, and Bud Light for their “woke” agendas, which usually consist of releasing Pride-themed products and working with queer celebrities. Their latest target is none other than Skittles, who had the audacity to release limited-edition Pride packs in collaboration with GLAAD.
Skittles’ limited-edition 2023 Pride Packs were unveiled back in May. Their packaging spotlighted five limited-edition designs by LGBTQ+ artists Shanée Benjamin, Mady G, Symone Salib, Bianca Xunise, and Zipeng Zhu.

On August 11, Skittles’ Pride offerings were dragged back into the limelight when notoriously anti-LGBTQ+ Twitter account Libs of TikTok — which is run by a woman named Chaya Raichik — shared a photo of Xunise’s design, which features Black characters and the words “Black trans lives matter.”
“Skittles is trying to turn your kids into BLM and LGBTQ+ activists,” Libs of TikTok tweeted. “Their packaging also features a drag queen. Skittles have gone completely woke.”
Several other high-profile anti-trans influencers, such as End Wokeness and Oli London, also took the opportunity to make a fuss about Xunise’s Skittles design, both going so far as to claim that GLAAD “[pushes] medical transitions on children” and “supports sex procedures for kids” because the nonprofit supports the trans community.
